“I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” Michael Jordan
People
don't succeed on things the first time, it takes practice. Michael Jordan is an
idol for many young athletics boys who play basketball. Fans believe that
he is perfect and should not have to practice, yet in order to succeed at what he does; he must fails a few times. The
skill is to actually learn from your mistakes and improve yourself. We
are always asking celebrities or athletes’ what is the secret behind there success,
but there is no secret. Its called hard work, everyone must work to get to
where they are now in life. Some more successful than others, but that’s basically
determined by a persons work ethic and determination.
People
who are determined to strive and succeed are the people that reach there goals.
Then why do people have people have talents? They really don’t, its something
they have probably worked at and dedicated there time to. Michael says people
have left there hopes of winning the game, and he’s let them down. It can
happen to anyone, were all human. The only thing that sets us apart from others
is heart. Failing isn’t what make a man
a coward, not getting up from the fall is.
My favorite sentence in your post was the last "Failing isn't what makes a man a coward, not getting up from the fall is." Many people think of failing as a negative think but i like how throught your post you show us that it actually can be a positive thing. Good job topic Laura :))
ReplyDeleteWhat an inspiring quote you chose! Michael Jordan is a cultural icon and most of America knows as "the best basketball player ever." Your analysis to the quote was interesting to read and you have some great ideas. Thomas Edison's quote about finding different ways that don't work is just as inspiring and it is good for people to look at the positive in failing. Many forget to do that and it brings them down.
ReplyDeleteThe two words that really caught my attention in your post were "hard work". Someone approached me today asking me about religion, whether I believe in God or not and whether it is sinful or a burden on ones life if they don't believe. " A burden ones life?" I wondered ... The only burden it would bring me probably would be to not having a hope or faith or something/ someone to look up to. But not that it would burden the success or achievements in my life.
ReplyDeleteWell here's my point, like you said when many people ask successful others "what's your secret" they expect a response other than "I just practice practice practice and work hard". No one gets anywhere with hope or faith alone. (realize I said "alone")Working hard is definitely a major contribution to success and working hard means improving. We can't start off perfect, we need to fail, get up and just improve on it.
Good Post!
